Well, after meeting a man named Deep Patel this evening, I’m convinced it may be getting easier very soon!
The man and his company Go Green Solar are making great strides so that you can order solar and wind-powered packages in a box for your home.
He showed me his website, and explained to me that you can order a 1kw package, in the box, complete with a panel, an inverter, and all the necessities that will help reduce your carbon footprint. To give you an idea, one kw/hr is what about 12 regular 65-watt incandescent bulbs in a kitchen/dining area will use in an hour. Combine this product with replacing those bulbs with compact florescent bulbs, and you could run that same amount of lighting area for 4 hours.
To heck with the environment, think of the reduction in your electric bill! Especially if you just happen to go slightly over your baseline every month and really add up the charges. Now, you can stay below it.

It’s also worth checking out if you can get a grant to install alternative energy devices such as solar panels. Often the grants cover 50% of the bill so not only do you save money but your initial overheads are cut!
